The Idris House sits on a busy crossroad between Fendalton and Idris Rd, Christchurch, NZ. Given its location, the architects’ brief necessitated control of traffic noise and to ensure privacy, while maximising solar gain and enhancing outdoor connection and lifestyle.

What is the story behind the building, who built it, where why and for whom?

Builder:  Refined by the meticulous craftsmanship of Feutz & Goldsmith, renowned specialists in architecturally designed, upscale residences throughout Southland, NZ, this project epitomises bespoke excellence. Attentive to the client's exacting desires, every facet of this home reflects an unwavering commitment to perfection.

Exemplifying this dedication is the painstaking effort invested alongside skilled bricklayers to refine the hue of the mortar, a pivotal element within the construction. The fusion of brick and mortar extends beyond mere functionality, becoming a defining aesthetic feature meticulously integrated into every aspect of the build.

From the sweeping facade to the intricacies of garden walls, Feutz & Goldsmith's signature finesse is evident in every detail. Each brick is carefully positioned, with meticulous attention paid to capping and the seamless transition beneath eaves, ensuring a harmonious blend of form and function throughout the property.

Wienerberger product used: Imperium Flavius, enhanced by the unique advantage of its elongated and low-profile brick format, harmonizes seamlessly with the contemporary vision driving the design of this residence. The inherent characteristics of this brick variant align perfectly with the modern aesthetic envisioned for the house, imparting a sense of sophistication and timeless elegance to the overall composition.
